About this site: who publishes it and where its pay figures come from
TravelTherapySalary.com shows what travel therapy contracts pay by discipline, setting and state, and it is published by a travel therapy agency whose own open contracts are the source of its weekly figures. Those figures are a dated snapshot of advertised weekly gross, checked before every release, and this page explains what that means and what the site does not claim.
What is this site for?
It is for travel therapists, and therapists thinking about travel, who want to know what contracts pay before they talk to anyone. The home page gives the weekly figures by discipline, the pay explorer filters the current contract book by discipline, state and setting, the state pages and the state ranking break the figures down by place, and the guides cover pay by setting and what a year of travel adds up to.
Beside the travel figures, the site sets a staff salary for comparison and says which is which. If you are new, the start here page lists where to begin; this page is about who stands behind the figures and how they are kept honest.
Who publishes it?
ProTherapy Staffing, a travel therapy agency, publishes this site, and it has been PT-owned and operated since 2012.
That matters for how you read the figures. The weekly pay on these pages comes from the publisher’s own list of open travel contracts, so it shows the market as one agency’s contracts show it, on a stated date. It is a useful picture of what contracts are advertised at, and it is not a survey of every agency or every employer.
What is this site not?
- It is not a salary survey. A travel figure here is a weekly gross advertised on open contracts: taxable pay plus any stipends, before tax. It is not an annual salary, not take-home pay and not what any traveler earned across a year.
- It is not an offer. A median tells you where the middle of the advertised market sits; only a written offer tells you what a facility will pay you.
- It does not model what it cannot see. A state or setting with too few contracts gets no median, rather than an estimate, and no figure is adjusted for experience.
- It carries no third-party ads or sponsored listings. The card at the foot of each page and the bar along the bottom of the screen are the publisher’s own, and both are labelled as coming from it.
If you want to see what a real contract in your discipline and states would pay, ask a ProTherapy recruiter: Find my next contract.
Where do the figures come from, and how do they stay current?
Every weekly figure on the home page, the pay explorer, the state pages and the state ranking is computed from the same stored copy of the publisher’s job list, so the pages cannot disagree with one another. The date printed with them, after “pay data as of” or “pinned”, is the date that copy was taken. The copy is refreshed as a deliberate step in a release, not on a timer, and before the site is published a checker recomputes each declared figure and stops the release if one disagrees. How the pay index is computed sets out the cleaning, the median and the rounding.
The staff side comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, whose wage estimates are, in its words, “based on a survey of business establishments (employers).” The questions on the home page quote its handbook with the date each passage was read. The stipends inside a weekly gross are capped by the federal per diem rates that GSA publishes for each place.
The setting guide and the health insurance page are written guidance; where they carry a figure, it is rendered from a sourced file rather than typed by hand.
Who do you contact about the site?
For a question about this site or a figure on it, call or text the business line shown on the publisher’s contact page, or use the form there.
To talk about a contract, use the “Find my next contract” link on this page; it asks your discipline and the states you want, and a recruiter takes it from there. Ask for the offer line by line, in writing, and set it beside the figures here. If you would rather watch postings first, the job alerts page sends new contracts in your discipline by email, daily or weekly as you choose.
Frequently asked questions
Are the weekly figures what I would be paid?
No. They are medians of the weekly gross advertised on open contracts in the publisher’s own job list, before tax. Only a written offer tells you what a facility will pay you.
Why does a state show no median?
A slice needs a minimum number of contracts before it gets a median. Below it, the site shows the advertised range and the count of openings instead of an estimate.
How current are the figures?
Each figure carries the date its stored copy of the job list was taken, printed after “pay data as of” or “pinned”. Between refreshes the figures hold still, so read that date as the age of the picture.
